This isn't a pause on real life.It is real life.

There's a window right after graduation that most people rush through. We think it's worth pausing in.

The ELIC Global Ambassador Program is a 9-month overseas residency for people who want their life to count now, not someday. You'll live and serve in Thailand, Tunisia, or Uzbekistan. You'll help people learn English, grow in your faith alongside mentors, and get to know neighbors whose world looks nothing like the one you grew up in.

Plenty of people look back on it as the best decision they made in their twenties.

What yournine months look like

English teaching and education
01 — Teach & Serve

Make a real difference

Most days that means tutoring, language class, running English clubs with your teammates, and maybe teaching a few classes. You'll get to know students and coworkers who are curious about where you're from, what you believe, and why you came all this way.

Community and fellowship
02 — Grow in Faith

Go deeper than you've gone

You'll be discipled by leaders who've walked this road themselves. You'll have mentors to help you process and a team leader for the day-to-day. This program will change you in ways you never imagined.

GAP teammates together in community
03 — Live in Community

You won't do this alone

You'll share a house, cook and eat together, and carry the same purpose as a small team of peers. Nobody does this on their own, and honestly, you wouldn't want to.

Three locations.One mission.

GAP Country

Thailand

Busy cities, food you'll miss the day you leave, and neighbors who'll want to hear your story.

GAP Country

Tunisia

Where Africa meets the Mediterranean. An old country full of young people figuring out what's next.

GAP Country

Uzbekistan

The old heart of the Silk Road. Hardly any outsiders make it here. The ones who do don't stop talking about it.

What you'llwalk away with

Nine months of the kind of living and serving you can't fake your way through. You'll feel it for years.

  • A graduate-level TESOL certification from Wheaton College
  • Cross-cultural instincts you can't learn in a classroom
  • Mentors who know your name and stay in your corner
  • Friends and coworkers across the world who still pick up when you call
  • A clearer sense of what you're for, and what comes next

They'll tell youbetter than we can

It was hard to know what to expect when I joined the program, but I was blown away by how prepared I felt and how I was cared for every step of the way.
GAP Participant, Thailand
It's hard to understand another culture until you spend extended time there. It was shocking how much I learned and how much I fell in love with another place in just 9 months.

This might beyou if…

  • You're a recent grad (or almost) and you want your first move after school to actually matter
  • Your faith is the most important thing about you, and you're ready to live like it somewhere hard
  • You're up for being challenged, working hard, and being led
  • You'd rather pour your time into people than into a résumé
  • Comfort isn't really what you're after. Growth is.

The questionseveryone asks

A big commitment deserves straight answers. Here's what people ask us most. We'll go deeper on all of it when we talk.

How do people afford nine months?

Money is the first thing most people ask about, and fair enough. On your first call we'll lay out what it costs, what that covers, and how participants actually pay for it.

Is it safe? Will I be supported?

You won't be dropped somewhere and left to figure it out. You'll be placed with an established local team who live in your city and look out for you day to day. Before you commit, we'll talk honestly about health, safety, and what support looks like in each country.

Who's actually leading this?

GAP is run by ELIC, a non-profit organization that has spent 45 years placing people with teams across Asia, the Middle East, and North Africa. Your mentors have done this work themselves. You will be cared for every step of the way.

Applications are open for the next cohort. Tell us a bit about yourself and a real person from our team will follow up, usually within two business days.
